In-Browser Office Editing
Open, co-edit, and save Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files directly in the Workspace.
What Is Directly Editable
The built-in Office opens Workspace documents in the browser. There is no download, local edit, and re-upload round trip. The Workspace keeps one current file; the MVP does not yet include version history.
- Editable: .docx, .xlsx, .pptx
- Read-only preview: .doc, .xls, .ppt, .odt, .ods, .odp, .rtf, and PDF
- Several people can edit the same document at the same time
- Also usable on tablet and smartphone

What Happens on Save
Saving overwrites the same file, increments the version number, and drops the cached preview. The document is then re-indexed so agents answer from the current text on the next question.
The document additionally records the last editor and the time of the edit.
- Open the file in the Workspace
- Edit in the browser, together if needed
- Saving overwrites the same file
- Version bumped, preview refreshed
- Re-indexed — agents answer from the new state
Permissions
Editing requires write permission on the folder — the same folder ACL that governs upload, move, and delete. Read-only members get the read-only preview instead.
Activation
Office editing is a module enabled per tenant and disabled by default. If it is off or the editor is unreachable, the platform falls back to the preview automatically — there is no dead-end state.
